Clearwater

A shallow-water study in motion, reflections and ripples, built with WebGL2.

  • WebGL2
  • Water simulation
Clearwater preview: calm shallow water with sunlight

Inside the experiment

  • Real-time water, reflections and light
  • Ripples and a shallow-water viewpoint
  • Small fish moving through the scene
Project notes

Calm shallow water rendered in real time (WebGL2). Runs in the browser, no install. Walk in shallow water, drag to look around, tap water for ripples.

Controls

  • WASD / arrow keys: wade in shallow water (footsteps make ripples)
  • Touch stick (bottom-left on touch devices): wade in shallow water
  • Drag: move view
  • Tap water: make ripples and scatter nearby fish
  • Gear panel (top-left, open by default): fish count 0..50, weather clear/cloudy

The game HTML is a modified single-file WebGL2 upstream (not Three.js): added a top-right #back link and 0..50 instances of one textured 3D fish derived from the CC0 Barramundi model with 128px textures embedded in the HTML (no external requests); removed floating credit, outbound links, and hint overlay; added shallow-water wading (WASD/arrows + touch stick, bounded area, footstep ripples, eye stays above water); simulation core unchanged.
